Riviera beach fees

I have been ready about the fees they charge to use the beach's on the Riviera. I understand that you get a mat, umbrella, chair or whatever for your fee. However, if a family of 4 goes to the beach, is that a fee for each person? Like 20 euro's per person? That is pretty expensive for a day at the beach! Thanks

Depends very much on where you go. There are free beaches, without chairs or umbrellas. There are inexpensive beaches where they will charge a few Euros for a simple beach chair. At the top end there are places where they charge 25 Euros for a lounge chair and umbrella; beaches like The Martinez or Carlton in Cannes for example.
In some places the free beaches are quite small and crowded. Where you are going and when makes a difference.

I agree with the above poster. Standard beach club fee in Nice runs about 20+E per person for chair, umbrella, towel. There is also a sizeable public beach in Nice, and we often go there, too, if we're not planning on spending at least part of the entire day at the beach.

We will be in Juan les pins at the Hotel Cecil. Do you know of nice beaches there? We will also be traveling to area towns by either bus or train. I am not sure how close we can get to the beaches on public transportation. Any suggestions?

Lots of beaches in Juan les Pins; just walk along the seafront; prices of beach chairs are posted. I can't really see much difference between them; all have mattresses (matelas) or beach chairs (transat). The chairs are sometimes more than the mattrasses. Also, if you want to be on the ponton, the wooden 'jetty' over the sea, that's more expensive too.
I don't know when you will be there; in late July and August it's sometimes necessary to reserve beach chairs in advance at some beaches.

I don't know where the hotel Cecil is, but the Pinede area of Juan les Pins is nice. Have cocktails at PamPam. Around the corner from PamPam is a good Vietnamese restaurant called PoussePousse I think.

The train station is centrally located in Juan les Pins; from most stations along the coast you can walk to the beach quite easily.

I just saw where your hotel is; very close to the beach and restaurants. Just walk to the beach, and you will see dozens of places where you can rent chairs (and a very tiny public beach somewhere close to the Meridien I think). If you are going to spend a day at the beach, have a look at the facilities (showers etc) and restaurant before deciding.
