when would you go??
Would you go late March/early April, or mid to late October for a first time visit to Ireland?
I am used to traveling to Europe March/April to avoid as many tourists as possible. No problems with the weather.
Thanks in advance,
Monica

I'd choose early April. You'd have longer hours of daylight then and you'd be there during the time the new lambs are arriving. (It's your first visit, so you may not know...but sheep are an important part of the country!)

Early April would be better than mid to late October, but May or September would be better still - still not too touristy like the middle of the summer but you would actually have a chance of decent weather. Although it's May now and I wouldn't say the weather is decent... The weather in Ireland is somewhat different from the rest of Europe ;-)

We are scheduled to go mid February. Should we expect cold, dreary weather? My brother says he thinks it will be dark by 5 p.m. I know that will cut down our daytime sightseeing but we thought it would allow more time for pubs and music.
