Late April Weather

My wife and I have a week to visit our son during his semester abroad and would love to know if people think the weather during the last week of April would limit our enjoying the outdoors. Have things started to green up by then? My initial thoughts are to spend a couple nights in Dublin followed by 5 nights somewhere in the south. Would Killarney be a good base?

You can get bad weather all the year round in Ireland.

I have been in April, May, June, Sept and Oct. All were good. Spring is really my fav time because you have such long days. Flowers will be blooming for sure.

I appreciate the weather comments. Would Killarney be a good spot to base ourselves for 4-5 nights to tour the southern part of the country?

No more than in September or November or August. You must be prepared for wet every month of the year.

Kilarney is a fine base -- for far SW Ireland. But do realize the base and spoke method doesn't work as well as in many places since the driving is slow.. It would be a good base for Dingle/ROK/Beara Pen./coastal county Cork etc
