What's going on in Nice May 24-28?
I'm trying to book a hotel in Nice for a few nights in late May, and most hotels are either booked up or else they are available at double the normal rate from May 24 to either the 28th or 29th? What's going on at that time? Should I plan to stay elsewhere?

It's the Grand Prix that's killing us - I just saw a hotel site in Nice with 'special' Grand Prix prices those dates.
Looks like I might have to rearrange our itinerary!

The Film Fsetival and the F1 Grand Prix ruckus ends on Sunday, May 27.
I'd think about staying elsewhere, as Nice is still torn up downtown where a tramway is being built.
Several other things in that area will be closed, including the Picasso Museum and the Perfume Museum.
If you really want to be in that area, check out Antibes or Juan-les-Pins if you want to be on the Med, otherwise head for the hills.
