I'm with Gordon. I love this Europe forum, but would love to take lottery winnings on a trip to China. We only have a few years left for cruising down the Yangtze River (dam project that'll impact 3 gorges).
I would get my sister to the best arthritis doctor in the world. She can hardly get around anymore.I would take her everywhere in a motorized wheelchair ...I would buy a villa in Sorrento Italy, a apartment in Venice, a houseboat in Amsterdam.
Janda

I would travel to my favorite country of France and buy a house or a large farmhouse in the south of France near St. Paul de Vence. For leisure and sun I would then travel to the island of Antigua and stay at Jumby Bay.

First, I'd get a beautiful flat in Paris somewhere in the 7eme, maybe around the rue St. Domenique/Bourdonnais area. Then, a nice little house in the Loire Valley. I'm partial to Onzain, so maybe there. I'd buy a 2CV for running around the Valley. I'd plant hundreds of bearded iris at the country place, and pots of geraniums on my terrace in the 7eme. I'd take my daily walk to the Luxembourg Gardens. I would tell people it was for exercise, but in truth, it would be an excuse to get pastries at Dallayou.

Did I win yet? Should I start packing?

If I won the lottery, don't kill me, but I'd take a cruise first. NOT because I'm a "cruise" person-- my husband and I are pretty much the opposite-- we like to get out, travel and SEE places. But my mother has dreamed of going on a cruise her entire life, and has always been so poor, and we've been able to travel a little bit as students, but not been able to take her with us. I would go on the most expensive, luxurious cruise possible, so she could live it up for once in her life, and have something SHE's always dreamed of!

First, I'd give half of it away to my favorite charities, then would go directly to Spain and take Spainish lessons. Would spend summers (July-October) where I already live (Seattle) and divide the rest of my time between Spain, France, and Italy with some trips to Hawaii. Have lived in Asia and while I found it fascinating, don't really want to go back (except maybe to Malaysia which is probably not going to happen again soon) and want to go back to Israel when it's safe (which also may not happen soon.)

My first holiday would be an immeditate trip to The Greenhouse, an upscale spa in Dallas. I want the luxury of being pampered. After that I would plan vacations to different spas around the world.

Paul had the right idea.

Money and time to burn? Croatia would be ideal with a nice yacht and scores of beautiful, isolated coastal islands to explore.

Good timing. The California Lottery is at about 90 million-plus tonight. Should I win, I will be e-mailing you from my Paris apartment for six months and my Umbrian villa for the other six months.

Since I will be filthy rich (of course, it won't change me), you're all invited to the villa at a nominal charge (not all at once, though. It won't be THAT big).
