I'd buy a 60's Chevrolet or some such and do Route 66.
First adapting the Chevvy so it could receive broadband (to stay tuned to BBC Radio 4) and had proper A/C, and ensuring the journey happened in one of America's brief windows of decent weather.
And I'd bribe the visa officer to give me more than a six month stay.
