Wendy...are you out there? I've got your coffee.
I know this is not informative to anyone except Wendy and I apologize in advance for this post but I no longer have her e-mail address and I wanted her to know that I did indeed go into the Champion Market next to Paul's and get her the special coffee she requested. Wendy, please write me. OK?
You are the best!

Pam, I am intrigued by this special coffee.

I love coffee - we had the best coffee in Paris and in Italy. In fact, I just returned from trying to find one of those Italian coffee pots - no luck - maybe someone here knows where to get one.

Anyway, what is the coffee called, where do you get it and what makes it so special?

Thanks.

Wendy,
You are not the Wendy I am trying to contact as I will know her e-mail address when I see it. She also knows where to contact me. Sorry.
You will have to ask Wendy (the one I'm trying to contact) what makes the coffee so special. I believe she is in the food industry and would be glad to give you her review. It is called Lavazza Italiano Espresso.

xxx,

You can get those coffeepots at Target if you have one near you, I've also seen them at williams sonoma and thru Chefs catalog online.Or if you have an Hispanic grocery near you, they always have them too.

My local Albertsons carries Lavazza coffee, regular and decaf. Wendy might be able to have her grocer special order it as it is available in the US

XYZ: Good grief! Was that at all necessary? Someone does something nice and then people like you just have to put in their (negative) two cents' worth. You added nothing to the discussion and I'd say you're the one with too much time on your hands.

Pam:
A side note. Everyday we pass by the Champion Market on rue Buci and everyday we promise ourselves to get a big bottle of water there instead of buying the 2-2,50Euros small one sold along many of Paris sites, but we never get to doing it because everyday around 4-4:30pm the line to the cashier is sooo loooong!! (and there is only 1 cashier, I believe). In the morning when we leave to see the sites, its still close, so we were never able to do this, sigh..
On the other hand, breakfast on the run at Paul's is superb!! And I can say this, I only ordered the "escargot" at Pauls, which is a raisin croissant and it is the most delicious, soft, moist and superbly baked I have ever tasted in our 3 weeks in France and everyday I ate the same kind of croissant from different bakeries (hence I can compare) and nobody can beat the way Paul's does theirs. My husband asked me if I didn't get tired of eating the same thing everyday and I said I was in a mission to find the bakery that bakes this kind the best and I found it. (the second was a bakery in a small village in the dordogne between Bordeaux and Limeuil)!!

Thanks for all the info about the coffee and the coffee pot. Lavazza was the type of coffee we bought at the Coop in Italy and made with a little Italian pot we bought but decided to leave in the villa because the one which was there was very old. I have also seen Lavazza in my local store so I'll be all set once I buy the coffee pot!

Joy, the pastry at Paul's was delicious. Did you try the almond croissant? It was fabulous. I think we were in Paris at the same time. Were you there for Bastille Day?

BTW, was that you who wrote about the huge traffic jam on the autoroute from Nice to Monaco? We were stuck in that mess for a long time. It ws the only time it happened during our time there.
