Wendy...are you out there? I've got your coffee.

I know this is not informative to anyone except Wendy and I apologize in advance for this post but I no longer have her e-mail address and I wanted her to know that I did indeed go into the Champion Market next to Paul's and get her the special coffee she requested. Wendy, please write me. OK?
You are the best!

Wendy Jul 21st, 2002 09:48 AM

Write back.

Pam, I am intrigued by this special coffee.

I love coffee - we had the best coffee in Paris and in Italy. In fact, I just returned from trying to find one of those Italian coffee pots - no luck - maybe someone here knows where to get one.

Anyway, what is the coffee called, where do you get it and what makes it so special?

Thanks.

pam Jul 21st, 2002 10:20 AM

Wendy,
You are not the Wendy I am trying to contact as I will know her e-mail address when I see it. She also knows where to contact me. Sorry.
You will have to ask Wendy (the one I'm trying to contact) what makes the coffee so special. I believe she is in the food industry and would be glad to give you her review. It is called Lavazza Italiano Espresso.

abc Jul 21st, 2002 10:34 AM

you go on a trip and take the time & effort to purchase and lug home something for someone you don't even know how to contact...wow, you're too nice.....

xyz Jul 21st, 2002 10:35 AM

Either she's really too nice or lonely

JOdy Jul 21st, 2002 10:49 AM

xxx,

You can get those coffeepots at Target if you have one near you, I've also seen them at williams sonoma and thru Chefs catalog online.Or if you have an Hispanic grocery near you, they always have them too.

My local Albertsons carries Lavazza coffee, regular and decaf. Wendy might be able to have her grocer special order it as it is available in the US

jeanne Jul 21st, 2002 11:17 AM

XYZ: Good grief! Was that at all necessary? Someone does something nice and then people like you just have to put in their (negative) two cents' worth. You added nothing to the discussion and I'd say you're the one with too much time on your hands.

mimi taylor Jul 21st, 2002 11:43 AM

Thanks Jeanne, I was about to say the same thing. Hi Pam, again, welcome back.

flygirl Jul 21st, 2002 11:53 AM

people who are that nice are never lonely.

however, people who are as negative as xyz, very likely are...

abc Jul 21st, 2002 12:05 PM

[actually, I was being sarcastic but that seems to be whizzing right over the heads of jeanne, mimi and flygirl, thusly avoiding their collective contempt]

Pam:
A side note. Everyday we pass by the Champion Market on rue Buci and everyday we promise ourselves to get a big bottle of water there instead of buying the 2-2,50Euros small one sold along many of Paris sites, but we never get to doing it because everyday around 4-4:30pm the line to the cashier is sooo loooong!! (and there is only 1 cashier, I believe). In the morning when we leave to see the sites, its still close, so we were never able to do this, sigh..
On the other hand, breakfast on the run at Paul's is superb!! And I can say this, I only ordered the "escargot" at Pauls, which is a raisin croissant and it is the most delicious, soft, moist and superbly baked I have ever tasted in our 3 weeks in France and everyday I ate the same kind of croissant from different bakeries (hence I can compare) and nobody can beat the way Paul's does theirs. My husband asked me if I didn't get tired of eating the same thing everyday and I said I was in a mission to find the bakery that bakes this kind the best and I found it. (the second was a bakery in a small village in the dordogne between Bordeaux and Limeuil)!!

coffee talk Jul 21st, 2002 01:56 PM

Pam, the Lavazza you speak of is available in the United States....OK, for 3-4 times the price you pay for it in Europe, but it IS available. If Wendy doesn't write back, keep the coffee for yourself and enjoy it!

xxx Jul 21st, 2002 03:23 PM

Thanks for all the info about the coffee and the coffee pot. Lavazza was the type of coffee we bought at the Coop in Italy and made with a little Italian pot we bought but decided to leave in the villa because the one which was there was very old. I have also seen Lavazza in my local store so I'll be all set once I buy the coffee pot!

Mari Jul 21st, 2002 03:42 PM

Joy, the pastry at Paul's was delicious. Did you try the almond croissant? It was fabulous. I think we were in Paris at the same time. Were you there for Bastille Day?

BTW, was that you who wrote about the huge traffic jam on the autoroute from Nice to Monaco? We were stuck in that mess for a long time. It ws the only time it happened during our time there.

JustForYour Jul 21st, 2002 03:48 PM

FYI-abc
when writing letters/posting online-it is difficult to get sarcasm across without those little nuances,a smile,a funny face,a tone.So best to stick to nice or not nice and save the sarcasm for when you can do it in person.

abc Jul 21st, 2002 04:03 PM

Thanks for the advice, Kate. I shall take that under consideration before posting in the future.

:-}

JustForYour Jul 21st, 2002 04:57 PM

nope, not Kate, not even same gender. however in re-reading your postings here I see that you feel a need to avoid collective contempt, why? aren't you secure in yourself? :-}

StCirq Jul 21st, 2002 05:41 PM

Pam: Are you talking about the Wendy whose e-mail name contains saveurlavie? If so, send me an e-mail and I'll tell you how to get in touch with her.

what Jul 21st, 2002 07:45 PM
