Wedding Vows Renewal
Hi,
My wife and I are planning a 10 day trip to Sorrento in May and being that we will be married for 45 years later that year, I thought that it might be nice to have our wedding vows renewed. We are both Catholic.
Has anyone ever done this or do you have any information on how I could arrange it?
Thanks

I've got no personal experience with this, but perhaps this website might help:
www.gettingmarriedinitaly.com
It's obviously for people getting married, not renewing vows, but maybe some of the information would be useful.

Hi
You might find Statia's trip report helpful. She did something similar.

If you want to have the vow renewal done in a Catholic church you need to go through your local Catholic priest. Hubby and I wanted to get married in London but opted out because there were too many loopholes and would have a two year wait. Hopefully your wait wouldn't be as long but the fist thing to do is go through your church.

We looked into renewing our vows at Santa Susanna in Rome, but we weren't there on the correct day. You need to notify your own church and get a copy of your wedding certificate, and let your parish priest know the good news. Then it's just a matter of writing to the Sorrento parish priest and making arrangements. At Santa Susanna, vow renewals took place during Mass--I think it was the Tuesday Mass, but that of course will be something that varies from parish to parish. Tourist info for Sorrento is at www.sorrentotourism.it, or telephone number 081-8074033, or fax 081-8773397 (add on country code), or e-mail [email protected]. They can give you church addresses and the names of the pastors.
