Weather in Lake Como

I will be in Italy in May and I got the average high and low temperatures for my destinations from weather.com. It says the average high temp is:

Venice 70 F
Verona 72 F
Milan 70 F
Genoa 68 F
Como 55 F

I was surprised to see that Como is so much cooler than places as close to it as Milan and Verona. Does that average high temp for May for Lake Como sound right? Are there any websites other than weather.com where I can verify this?

Thanks a bunch.

Seeing the other average temperatures, that 55 degrees does seem low. I would guess that it would be in the mid 60s.

I thought so too. Also, I forgot to mention, I was looking at the avergaes for the city of Como and weather.com claims that there is no month in the year where the average high is above 68 F for that city. That sounded wrong to me based on reports I have read on this site where people talk about how hot it is in the summer at Lake Como.

I was in the Lake Como area on March 24th (Bellagio, Menaggio, and Varenna) it was in the low 60's and pleasant. The only time we were a little cold was on the ferry.

bobthenavigator,

I tried the washington post website, and can't seem to locate any averages or historical data for Italy. I could get a 15 day forcast, but nothing that tells what the average temps are for a particular time of year for Europe (I did see that info for the U.S.) Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place . . . .

Although this is purely descriptive (and perhaps a little too self-congratulatory?) - - http://www.larioonline.it/territorio...ish/clima.html - - this provides a little bit of info. I have never heard of it being very hot at Lake Como, but that doesn't mean that it isn't true. Seems like the impression I had was mode moderate all four seasons - - cooler in warmer months, and warmer in colder months.

Best wishes,

Rex

Daria,I too struck out other than the 55 report you had gotten. However, I did find Lugano for May at 70--50 and it cannot be that different.

I was in Menaggio in mid-May last year and the weather was in the 70's during the day, a bit cooler at night..and cooler on the lake with the breezes and such..wore a light jacket in the evenings. Cannot imagine the town of Como would be much different.

Thanks everyone. I am going to conclude that, based on the above, weather.com is wrong. I agree that the temperature you got for Lugano Bob is probably pretty close.

Cheers.
