Accommodations in Como, Lake Como
Hello everyone. We find this site and those who respond very helpful.
I wrote a thread called Milan to Varenna and got great advice.
We are unable to make that particular location a place to stay on the days we have available.
We are now looking at taking the train from Milan to city of Como. We can take the ferry as required to other towns and villages.
Any suggestions on a nice hotel or B & B to stay at in Como. We are willing to spend up to 300 euros a night.
Any other suggestions around Como would be greatly appreciated.
Have a wonderful day!

Have you identified the things you want to see/do on the lake?
I would keep trying to find accommodations in the mid-lake area. Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio, Cadenabbia. These 4 towns are connected by a separate ferry that operates frequently during the day. If you don't have much time on the lake, these 4 towns offer access to some of the main sights.

If you stay in Como, you will have longer ferry rides with less frequent service on the route that covers the entire length of the lake between Como and Colico. You can still have a good time staying in Como, but it's a large-ish, busy town that IMO doesn't provide the same experience as staying elsewhere on the lake.
