Hi machin, actually that visit in Venice my DH got a bit difficult too, LOL. So I just parked him in a warm and cozy cafe and had them bring him a bottle of good red wine and that took care of that! Can't do that with kids of course.

That's usually the best time of year - after the spring rains, before the summer heat. But weather has been unpredictable in recent years...

On our two trips to Italy we must have been blessed:
Rome: May 14-16, 2001, beautiful weather, 75-80 degrees
Venice: May 23-27, 2001 heat wave, reaching the 90's. Ended up at Lido Beach in the afternoon to cool off.
Rome: May 3, 2003 passing through on our way to S. Margherita, Ligure. Pleasant and about 75 degrees.
S. Margheria May 3 - May 9, 2003(North - Italian Riviera) weather was beautiful hovering around 75 degrees every day.
No rain, clear blue skies on both trips. I am keeping my fingers cross for our trip April 2006.
