weather in Greece in May

Is the middle of May a good time of year to go to Greece? Friends who are travelling to Mykonos and Santorini at that time have asked us to join them. We have never been
there.

It's the beginning of the 'good' weather. From Mid-May through June is the best time, before the intense summer heat. All the shops, hotels, restaurants and galleries are open, ferries are running strong and the locals have a smile on their faces, happy to see visitors after a long, quiet off-season.

Early Nay is a bit iffy weather wise in Greece but after the 15 of May it is like somebody hit a switch and turned on the sunny sky.
You could still have a few days with mixed clouds and you could still have a rainy day but nothing much to worry about. It will be warm in the second half of May ( high 70's with cool evenings)
In my opinion late May early June is the perfect time to visit Greece and the islands.
Here are some pictures of Santorini. Somehow I lost hundreds of Santorini pictures but I managed to salvage enough to give you an idea of what to expect.

Pleasant warm days, cool evenings, some chance of rain. Great time to visit Mykonos and Santorini - they get very crowded later in the summer. Bring a jacket/sweater for going out in the evening. It will be sunbathing weather, but most people find the water a bit too cold for swimming.
