weather in Greece in May
Is the middle of May a good time of year to go to Greece? Friends who are travelling to Mykonos and Santorini at that time have asked us to join them. We have never been
there. |
It's the beginning of the 'good' weather. From Mid-May through June is the best time, before the intense summer heat. All the shops, hotels, restaurants and galleries are open, ferries are running strong and the locals have a smile on their faces, happy to see visitors after a long, quiet off-season.

Early Nay is a bit iffy weather wise in Greece but after the 15 of May it is like somebody hit a switch and turned on the sunny sky.
You could still have a few days with mixed clouds and you could still have a rainy day but nothing much to worry about. It will be warm in the second half of May ( high 70's with cool evenings) In my opinion late May early June is the perfect time to visit Greece and the islands. Here are some pictures of Santorini. Somehow I lost hundreds of Santorini pictures but I managed to salvage enough to give you an idea of what to expect. http://travel.webshots.com/album/563832695pKqudI |
Pleasant warm days, cool evenings, some chance of rain. Great time to visit Mykonos and Santorini - they get very crowded later in the summer. Bring a jacket/sweater for going out in the evening. It will be sunbathing weather, but most people find the water a bit too cold for swimming. :-)
