He must be conflating Piemonte with the pimento, which is so often found in an olive, which in its turn is so often found in a martini (but not in a maitai).

I’m enjoying this report! Thank you, mtt.

Another trip report that makes it far too intimidating to write one....

Really, though, looking forward to this!

Tom, if you stay at the Sofitel LHR on a duture trip, their restaurant, La Belle Epoque is really wonderful. We take daytime flights from BOS to LHR and arrive just in time for dinner.
Loving your report!

"It’s Piemonte, Tom, not Piemente."

That'll teach me to drink a bottle of Barbera while writing a trip report. Grazie ... duly changed.

Tom, Tom, Tom, (and Tracy, Mary and Kim): have followed you forever. You were in jolly old London when we were there. And we used your last trip report for so many recommendations: Buckingham Palace Tour, The Wolsely and especially Hereford Arms. Ate here twice.

Did we get a GTG invitation. NO. Why not!!

Seriously, love your reports, feel like I know all of you. Looking forward to more.

Gelato, vino, pasta. The triumvirate of Italy!!!

I've returned to Fodors forums after a long hiatus with no travel (staying at home helping elderly family members) because I'm finally packing my bags again and heading to Turin and Lyon this Christmas..and one of the first posts I see is a Maitaitom trip report on Italy! I've missed this!

Definitely joining the queue for this, We were there at pretty much the same time - spending a week in Turin before moving to Bologna for a second, so it will be interesting to see how experiences differed.

We make it to Milan, and we made the most of our first half day. A fantastic shopping center, a bone church and an adjacent beautiful church. Then we'd hit the timed ticket tour of the Duomo di Milano and it's beautiful rooftop. A quick trip to the nearby Duomo museum, we'd end the day at the first of our numerous fantastic restaurants on this trip. Of course, I made just a slight error at this establishment. I love Italy!!!!

We're joining you. We loved our three days there, and that Duomo rooftop blew us away.

Just caught up with this. Great shot of the Duomo in Milan.

Turns out I was in London the same day, but I was further east, specifically for Open House.

Really looking forward to this Tom. I have just reread your Madrid report from a few years ago in preparation for upcoming trip.

Wait till the one tomorrow. I got exhausted just writing it. I think we are going to slow down on future trips. I'm too old for this.

Have very much enjoyed your travel adventures and the humor over the years! We will be in Milan this weekend and after reading your reviews and seeing the photos we will book La Piola. Thank you, too, for writing about the discount information!
