walton on thames hotel help please

Hello, I am going to the UK in mid May for a wedding at the Burvel House in Walton on Thames, but I cannot find anywhere to stay! The hotels suggested by the bridge and groom are either too expensive or fully booked. We won't have a car so that is also part of the equation. We are willing to spend up 100£ but not more than (even that is really pushing it-- i would be much happier with 50£ since we are coming from Switzerland and the Swiss franc). Does anyone have suggestions????

We have a frequent poster who lives not too far from Walton on Thames so hopefully she will see your thread.

But do you mean £100 or hopefully £50 per person or total? If you mean for two - then you aren't going to find anything for £50.

But I have a wild idea if you can't find anything in Walton-on-Thames. Priceline a hotel in central London. You can get very nice 4 star places for very low rates and then can take the train to Walton.

Thank you for that. I hope she will see as well-- that would be really helpful!

Regarding the pricing, I meant to say that we would pay up to 100£ per night, total. So, 200£ if we stay for 2 nights. I would prefer something cheaper, you're right, thats too wishful.

I was considering the central London idea but since all the family will be in Walton on Thames I didnt want to feel isolated. How far is the train ride from London? Do you think its easy enough if all else fails?

Try expanding your search to other areas eg Shepperton, Weybridge.

Have you tried http://www.riverdenegardens.co.uk

Bus route from Walton 451 goes past Hampton Court (try the Mitre Hotel) and onto Kingston Upon Thames where there is a Travelodge close to the train and bus station.

I would do this rather than trekking in and out of central London.

Thanks for the reply. I just phoned Riverdene Gardens and spoke with a lovely woman. The room is in my price range and I think we will probably stay there. She said it is only a 5 minute walk to the centre of Walton on Thames, and maybe 15 minutes to the Burvel House. Does that sound right? We wont have a car so I want to make sure we are close enough.

For the bus, while that might have to be an option (and presumably an easier one than Central London), I would prefer not to have to reply on public transport since we will be a wedding that might end quite late. I wouldnt want to be stuck there afterward.

Does Riverdene Gardens sound like a good plan? Its look gorgeous! Thanks so much for your help!
