Isn't it grand - I got so many options from you folks - Fodorites are great.
Well, the 3 of us talked today while our son visited us & the 2 guys want to walk! - I think they are trying to win by democracy - majority rule! Nice try, huh - us moms know how to get around majority rule!
Anyway, we decided to "play it by ear". If the weather is great when we walk out of the train station & we feel comfortable with knowing which way to go, & we want to try it, we will.
Otherwise, it will probably be by taxi.
Thanks again, Julie

I think most of those who says walking is okay were thinking about 21-22" rollaboard. Not 27".
You'll be so exhausted pulling that thing to your hotel, unless those suitcases are empty.

Depending on the number/size/weight of the bags and sturdiness of the wheels, you could walk, but why.
1) Take a taxi, it'll cost about $10 or so and will be worth it just in aggrevation.
2) If smaller/fewer/lighter bags, take the metro. The stop is very close to your intended location.

Hi Zerlina has a point, in Europe specially one has to be aware of hilly terraines with its up and downs. Big difference when carring a suitcase ...also ianother important item is the surface of the streets and sidewalks .....

Julie:
I walked without any suitcase from Termini to hotel on Purificacion, near Barberin1...it's fairly hilly and took about 15 minutes.
Strongly suggest you taxi it. You'll walk your tootsies off while your in Rome thereafter. If the guys insist, let them walk and you take the taxi! Assert, baby, assert!
