Visit to Cornwall
I am visiting Cornwall in late September, early October 2015 for approximately 8 days. My friend and I will have a car. Can anyone please suggest an itinerary ....the best towns to stay and how many nights in each. We are interested in history and the beautiful sights, also the quaint villages off the beaten track. I am keen to see St Just. where my famiy history takes me!
Thanks! Leeanne

Hi Leeanne,
I am sure that Fodor's resident expert on Cornwall ANNHIG will weigh in with excellent suggestions.
You might also follow SUSAN001's trip report about her month in the UK which ends with a week in Cornwall:

You have plenty of time to think and plan your holiday. There are so many lovely places to visit, it is hard to know where to begin. Rather than rely on someone else's suggestions why not do a bit of research yourself. Lonely Planet do a Travel guide to Devon and Cornwall. DK Eyewitness do a Top 10 Travel Guide to Devon and Cornwall. Both can be got cheaply from Amazon.
St Just is a lovely small place and not as busy as other part of Cornwall. If you like walking there is some superb walking from Cape Cornwall just north of St Just, along the coast to Zennor in the the east. The Helston river area is vey pretty too.

Hi Lpascoe - first of all, if the weather we had this year is anything to go by, you've chosen a great time of year to be visiting Cornwall - well done!
Apart from St Just, do you have any ideas of what you might want to see? for the west of the county, including St Just, Penzance makes a great centre, and you could easily spend your whole time there, but you might like to think about staying in a second centre, depending on what you want to do - Falmouth is good for boat trips and gardens and seeing the Roseland and the Helford river, Truro is the only city in Cornwall and is quite central for seeing most of the north and south of the county, or you could stay in Looe or Fowey if you want to see something of the east and the south coast.
let me know what you are interested in, and I'll try to help a bit more.

We recently spent several days in Penzance. We went by bus to Marazion to walk over to St. Michael's Mount and another day to St. Ives and thoroughly enjoyed both days. We walked along the promenade to Newlyn; and my daughter, more energetic than my sister and I, did a train/bus combo to Tantagel in search of King Arthur. (She loved le Morte de Arthur as a child and the movie Camelot and really enjoyed her day of climbing around.)
