Villefranche Sur mer

I read many informations regarding this small town..However, some posts are quite old, especially the one concerning the hotel prices.
Can someone suggest and gives me also
the web sites of nice, decent hotels , not extremely expensive, good locations and close to buses or train ?
many people suggest Hotel Welcome, I read very good posts about this place but cant find the web site .
Thanks,

Hi Kismetchimera,

I just went through this process as well. Try welcomehotel.com. Another choice is Hotel La Flore (hotel-la-flore.fr. Double is 90E to 120E, with pool. I chose the la Darse ([email protected]). The web site shows the views etc. This a 2 star at the marina, with "million dollar" views (per Rick Steves)of the water. I just booked a double with balcony on the water for next May at 72E. Non view rooms are 50-60Es. All of these hotels are described at Rick Steves 2004 France book, page 410. The la Darse is substantially cheaper than the others, it has gotten good reviews. It is clean and basic with a restaurent. They responded promptly to e mail, and in English. Good luck!

The La Flore has a surprisingly good restaurant for a rather ordinary hotel. The Versailles, next door, is a better choice. Unobstructed balcony views and a decent sized pool.

The Hotel Welcome as I recall long ago, had all the rooms overlooking the sea. It was once a convent.

Cigale thanks for Hotel Welcome web..

It looks like a nice place to stay, but since it was renovated and every room has a balcony, the prices went up and up..

I need a triple room for 4 days the first two weeks of June..I am coming from Venice via Nice, therefore I would like something close to public transportation.

After my 4 days in Villefranche, I will then take the TGV, to Avignon..

I can afford to pay up to 170 Euros..
