Villa rental

If we( three couples) wanted to rent a villa in Italy, could someone suggest a region that would be reasonably priced with a good view and in the country? We have been to Italy several times, but I am not that familiar with the countryside. I liked Tuscany and Umbria. We do not speak Italian.
Thanks, CSG

Are we to assume that you want to try some region(s) other than Tuscany and Umbria?

The province of Rieti is quite "undiscovered". There are some possibilities at www.domani-usa.com

I also have rented a very nice villa on the banks of Lake Garda last year from www.rentvillas.com for the "Fodorites Italy 2001" trip.

I would strongly recommend that you browse the rich resources of www.slowtrav.com or even ask the question there as well.

Best wishes,

Rex

We rented through rentvillas.com and had a good experience with that company. They have properties all over Italy. My travels are limited to Tuscany,Rome and Venice. If you are interested in returning to Tuscany and Umbria I'd suggest picking a region you had not stayed in. I found Tuscany so varied depending on the region.

Cherry, First, spend some time at slowtrav.com to learn about renting. Tuscany has by far the most options, but also look at Liguria and Veneto.
Also, decide when, how long and how much before you get too serious looking at properties--there are several hundred to consider, and you will need to qualify your serach.

Received this e-mail today:

Slow Travelers Talk message board is down

Saturday, January 4, 9:00am (MT): We are having problems with the Slow Travelers Talk message board. I have changed the domain name for the message board to:

www.slowtalk.com

The change has not gone through the system yet. You were supposed to be able to access the board with the old domain name, but it seems like that is not working right now. I will send another email when all is working again.

For now it seems like this link below will take you to the message board:

http://slowtrav.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x?a=cfrm&s=759607521

Sorry about all this!! It should be fixed soon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Pauline
