Vienna Concerts. Huge Choice.
Please assist with my choice. I want to see good talent in classical music (orchestra & opera) mid October for a reasonable price where the stage is in decent view. The choices are numerous. Suggestions?

Well, I think I can tell you that you will not be able to get the Vienna Philharmonic or the Vienna State Opera at "a reasonable price" unless you are prepared to sit high up and far away. The acoustics at the Musikverein (Vienna Philharmonic) are said to be excellent; at the Vienna State Opera, you may land up with only a very limited view of the stage.

In June we took in a great Puccini performance at the Vienna Opera House
...standing room which is actually not far from the stage due to the seating being in semicircular tiers of boxes. And the price was only 3.50 Euros!
Vienna has lots of classical music venues that are advertized, and of course Strauss music at the ballroom in Stadtpark. You'll have no problem finding something.

Definitely try to attend a Musikverein concert (Grosser Saal, if possible). The performances are usually quite good. Checking on the calendar between October 10 and October 21, there are plenty of interesting options. Scroll through those and see which performances might be most interesting to you.
At the State Opera House, there are a few ballets...Giselle, for example.
