Verona
Anyone spent any time in Verona in late November or early December? Like it? I am considering stopping here for a few days en route from Como to Salzburg and I am just wondering what it is like. I will be w/my parents and my brother on a trip for my parents anniversary. Any input on the town, things to do , daytrips, hotels/B&Bs would be great...thanks

We stayed a week in Verona in October a few years back. We love Verona. There is a vibrant shopping district, roman ruins to see, lots of good restaurants and it's a good base for visiting the surrounding area like Vicenza, Gardaland (hey, we were traveling with kids!) and even Venice.

Oh, and we rented one of these apartments http://www.casaffitta.it/appartamenti.html Giorgio and Laura are about the sweetest people ever! They stocked our fridge for us and we ran into them a couple of times during our vacation and we really felt like locals seeing a friendly face on the street. The apartments were nice too, right near the center of town.

I was in Verona during Late December and it was lovely. Weather not perfect but a small price to pay (IMO) for having no crowds whatsoever.
There was a fantastic casual little restaurant next to the church of St. Z...... (can't remember how to spell it!) where pizza and beer were perfect.
For me Verona *was* the daytrip, but I enjoyed it very much.

Thanks for all the input.
