I was just in Venice in September. There are ads all over the place for concerts, and I did not have a problem getting tickets to hear Vivaldi's Quarto Staggioni (The Four Seasons). It was great! The hotel got the tickets for us. Just remember the tip that musicians in costume may not be the same quality. The concert I saw was in a church.

I haven't yet been, but I have read that the concerts at scuola di san rocco are a good deal because you get both the music and the art.

http://www.musicinvenice.com/eng/amici.html

We also went to Vivaldi's concert in Church next to Academia Bridge (on San Marco side). We got the tickets right before the concert at the door without
any problems.

Good evening. Have notmally seen Vivaldi concerts being presented in
Venice. Since Verdi music was written
for opera would think that the music would not be performed seperately in
Italy...Teatro La Fenice is to open
soon, but do not know any more details.
Richard of LaGrange Park, Il
I'd bet 99 to 1 that it is Vivaldi because Vivaldi was born in Venice and they frequently play his music in those kind of concerts because it is accessible. Verdi did write some things other than opera, but mostly choral works.

You can hear a concert at the Scuola di San Rocco and also admire the wonderful paintings - the room upstairs is out of this world - what a great night this was!

The Vivaldi concerts are in the church in San Stefano just after you cross the Accademia Bridge(going toward Piazza San Marco away from the Dursodouro. The church will be on your left. You will see lots of information
posted outside the church.

Just returned from Venice and saw a Vivaldi concert in the church in Campo San Stefano. We were very pleased with it. We bought the tickets from our hotel but I believe they were also selling them at the church. Signs are everywhere, you can't miss them. Enjoy!
