Venice Transportation

Can someone give us some advice on transportation from venice port (cruise)to lido. Should we reserve or just take our chances when we disembark. We received a quote of 130 euros to take us to lido. is it cheaper via vaperetto. Please make suggestions.

I feel you should take your chances when you disembark. The Vaporetto should be much cheaper, but there may be others who have more experience. I saw a cruise ship going through the lagoon, and thought it was a wonderful sight. Enjoy your trip.

Thank you. Looking for someone who has disembarked in Venice. Anyone have transportation advice. Is a water taxi easily accessable?

Please advise.

If you don't get satisfactory answers then you might repost this as a Vaporetto (Venice's water bus) question. My hunch is that the vaporettos would seem almost free compared to 130 euro. (maybe 130 euro is passage for two (or more) on/in a hired boat (usually beautiful mahogany boat).

Is this a quick stop for the ship or the end of the cruise?

Hi P,

The standard rate for a water taxi from the airport into Venice proper is 80E for the boat.

A water taxi from the cruise dock to the Lido shouldn't be more than that.

There will be more than enough taxis at the dock when you disembark.

If the driver wants you to share, there should be one price for all of you, not separate fares.

And a vaporetto (water bus) would be much less expensive--3.50 euro per person according to the vaporetto web site. 130 euro for the water taxi is quite high, as ira pointed out.
