Venice parking

Where is the best place to park a car for 4 days in or near Venice? We'll be there Sept 23-27.

Ulanon,
This topic has been discussed a few times before on this Forum.
I, personally prefer to park directly across the street from the Mestre train station. About $5-6/nite. This is a large secure parking lot. There are trains to and from Venice about every 10 minutes for about 80 cents.
We did this last July and would not hesitate doing it again. The lot is called Brega located at Piazzale Stazione 23.

The post above by Rex is giving you info on the Tronchetto parking garage.

You cross a bridge entering Venice and follow signs to the garage. It is quite large and multi stories.

Park down at the far end if possible as you can unload your car and will be closer to the vaparetto stop that will take you into Venice. Know your stop # before you get on the vaparetto so you can watch for it.

Don't leave anything showing in the car and you should be okay for the 4 days. Some hotels will give you vouchers to help with parking expense but you have to ask them. We used this spot in 99 with no problems.

You should also buy your 4 day vaparetto pass at this point as you will want one as you move around Venice and it beats buying a ticket each time. There will be a chart telling the various passes and costs. We also got a discount for 4 people that we were unaware of until the ticket man told us. Check it out and get advantage of the pass from day 1.

Ulanon, just keep in mind that you will be spending approx $80-100 parking in Venice versus $20 in Mastre. Add to that the price of your rental(?)car. sitting there for 4 days. We also used Mastre and found it easier getting to our hotel via vaporetto from Venice train station than from Tronchetto parking garage.

While Bob is right that "tronchetto" is the word used, the intention was to show the long assortment of threads which discuss varying experiences parking at Tronchetto, Mestre and Piazza Roma.
If you're driving a rental, drop it off at the agency in Venice (most are located at the Piazzale Roma parking garage), walk across the small square and pick up a vaparetto to your destination. Save the four days on your rental and the garage fees.
