Venice Hotels for Honeymoon - Help Choose Please
We are honeymooning in late August/early September for five nights each in Prague and Venice. I've read through the forum, and I can't make up my mind about hotels. Can anyone suggest a charming and romantic hotel in a central location with air conditioning and a view for maximum of $200 USD?

From reading the forum, it looks as if Accademia, Ala, Galleria, or Locanda Barbarigo might be good choices. Any comments?

Thanks!!

Not entirely sure on the rates, but you might want to look at the Metropole Hotel. The front rooms all face the Grand Canal and it is a 5 minute walk to the Piazza San Marco.

The building is filled with antiques and each room is uniquely decorated.

Hi May,
we stayed at the Hotel Galleria in Venice for 6 nights over Easter and loved it. We had our 10th wedding anniversary there and thought our room and the view of the Grand Canal was quite romantic. We could even watch the water traffic in bed! Just don't expect plush or new, although the bathroom was newish. Breakfast is served in your room, coffee and croissants. The hotel is in a great spot, 2 min walk to the Accademia Bridge and the vaporetto stop. They only have 10 rooms and not all look directly out onto the Grand Canal so I would book now. We were offered a larger room at a higher cost and were glad we had taken that. I don't think the hotel has aircon but we didn't need it. I do envy you - Prague AND Venice, bliss!
Kay

We love the Ala. It has views of a small canal with gondola traffic, even some singing gondoliers. It is on a charming small piazza with a church so you often hear the bells. It is about a 5 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. The staff is very helpful. Highly recommended and in your price range.

We were in Venice a couple of years ago and saw the Accademie--it looked charming and is in a great location. Sorry, we didn't see the rooms so I don't have more to report. We stayed at the Pensione Calcina on the south side. It was a charmingly simple, small, clean rooms with a very helpful staff. It was on the large canal south of Venice and had a deck with tables and chairs overlooking the canal. We didn't think the location was the greatest prior to our trip but upon getting there, we thought it was great. Not necessarily a place I would think of for a honeymoon, though. Congratulations and enjoy your honeymoon. You'll love Venice wherever you stay!
