Hotel Galleria was about $100 US in 1999 with breakfast, and canal view by Accademia bridge. Rooms are small but clean with WC and shower, staff very helpful. One thing in Venice, you are not in the room very much. They serve breakfast in the room so we could watch all the barges go down the canal from school bus barges to McDonalds. You might give it a try.

Try hotel Ala - its repped by Best Western here in the U.S. - depending on time of year they have best avail rates pretty low - not under 100.00 but under 150.00 - such a great location - worth the extra $$

I'm not real concerned about fancy...just clean and not too loud of a location. Places that are closer to tourist sites are always handy, but just as long as its not too far from tourist areas. Thanks for the help.

Try Hotel Caneva, located half way between Rialto and San Marco. It's clean and quiet with some rooms overlooking a small canal. Two years ago the rate was $70 for a double with bath.

adrienne
