Venice-Hotel Starhotel Splendid Suisse
Has anyone stayed at this hotel? How would you rate this hotel on the American rating system - 3 star, 4 star, 5 star. What is location re key sights in Rome. Do rooms have queen/king beds, Hotel restaurants how were they, hotel services, cleanliness, etc. Anything we should know about this hotel?

We stayed in a quad room at this hotel. We were travelling with 2 children and chose this hotel because we could stay together in one room. The room was very spacious, with two windows overlooking the canals. The decor was quite ordinary, Holiday Inn style, but clean. A hot & cold buffet breakfast was included. We often had midafternoon snack on the rooftop terrace which gave an amazing view of the red rooftops of Venice. The location was excellent, a few blocks from St.Marco Square. Although we were not with tour group we did notice a number of large groups checking in. After checking out we realized we had left some garments in the bathroom, we telephoned and the hotel send the clothing to their sister hotel in Rome for pickup. Everything was beautifully folding and individually wrapped with a note enclosed thanking us for staying.

Hi
The US, unlike European countries, doesn't have a national hotel rating system as far as I know. Some organizations such as AAA rate hotels, but that's by their own criteria, and I don't know if those are written down somewhere as they are in Europe.
By the way, your question IS about the hotel in Venice, correct? Because you mention location in Rome. The Venice hotel of that name has an outstanding location. Across the small canal is a good little restaurant called Sempione.
