Venice hotel question

Has anyone stayed at Palazzo Bembo in Venice? Would you recommend it? It has lots of positive reviews but I am a bit hesitant for some reason.

I have searched previous threads already on this forum and checked a few of the hotels recommended, and the best ones are already booked for June/July. We need either two double rooms or a large family room for four. We would like to be not far from the center, in walking distance from St. Mark's square.

We are considering an apartment, too. Is veniceapartments.org reliable? They have some apartments that look very nice in the photos but the prices seem too good to be true.

We are looking for a place that's clean, safe, comfortable. A little charm would not hurt. Thanks.

Venice isn't large so you can easily walk everywhere. We try to. Ook away from St. Mark's with all the crowds. Sorry, I don't know about that website.

I know it's not large, thanks. We have been there. And we walk a great deal when we are on vacation.

Gina,

I've used veniceapartments.org and they were fine.

I tend to give less expensive places a try and our stay with them was good.

The apartment was a bit out of the way and I think one reason it was a little less expensive was that one has to go to their office to get keys before getting to the apartment.

I found a series of pictures (maybe here?) of how to get to their office, which was very helpful. I remember sitting on a bench with our luggage while my husband walked to the office to get the keys.

The apartment we rented from them wasn't fancy but there were characteristic things about it that we liked and it was in a very quiet campo not far from the Fondemente Nove vaporetto stop.

I would say that it was a little worn, not awful, with a tiny kitchen corner that wasn't useful for much other than coffee, snacks, etc. We broke the coffee pot, told them, and never heard a word about it. No hold on security or anything like that.

That particular apartment is no longer on their list, but I'm trying to give you an idea of what we got for the price.

They weren't great at communication, and I took that as another reason prices were lower. No hand holding, but you're familiar with Venice and don't really need extra help.

I'll try to answer any other questions if you have them. I'm going to look at their website right now because we are going in October and I sort of forgot to check their apartments. Thanks for the reminder.

Gina - we rented an apartment through www.hhvenice.com

Donatella was very obliging, met us with the keys, showed us through the apartment and came to collect the keys when we were leaving.

All email communication before we booked was handled very promptly and professionally. She even took the time to direct us to the nearest supermarket etc.

The apartment we rented was only one bedroom so wouldn't suit your needs, but she has plenty of others on offer. Di
