Venice Apartment for 5?

I am planning a trip for 5 to Venice and would like to rent an apartment this time. We usually stay in a hotel, but with 5 an apartment is best for the convenience and savings. We usually stay in Santa Croce, but will stay in any central location. Does anyone have first-hand experience with a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment? I have been looking and my head is spinning. Also, we are going next June and would like to stay only 3 nights. Thanks! Budget is no more than about $1000 for the three nights.

I rented a large 3/4 bedroom apartment on a calle off Frezzeria - close to Bacino Orseolo a few years ago.

I don't think it's available any more, I can't see it on the website, but I rented it from

www.oikosvenice.com

They have several apartments of that size and were good to deal with.

Yes, it is still for rental, it's the one called Vallaresso. Looks like they've updated it a bit since we were there.

It was nice, I'd stay there again.

I looked at Palazzo Tiepoletto and it looks like it is for 4 people, tops. Am I wrong about this? I have looked at oikosvenice apartments and they look good. Their cancellation policy is steep. Trying to plan for 5 people and putting deposits on lodging with strict cancellation policies has me in a tizzy. Thanks. Any other ideas?

I booked through www.venicerentals.com. They are very helpful. Tell them what you're looking for (size, location, price) and they will come back to you with some options.

Try homeaway.com and vrbo.com. We have used both. Our apt in Venice was just enough for 2 so not much help there. jk

An absolutely wonderful, top-rated apartment rental service is Views on Venice, run by an efficient gentleman who lives in Venice. They have distinctive apartments in excellent locations. You can review properties by size, location, price, and amenities. Email correspondence is prompt and in English. They also arrange water taxi pick-up at the airport.

We stayed in their delightful Ca' Carmini property last fall; a colleague of mine stays with them every year.
