Venice Hotel Comparison

Am considering the following:

La Calcina
La Residenza
Pensione Accademia
San Moises

Any opinions/comments would be appreciated.

Hi hb,

If you do a text search for each of these properties you will find many opinions about them.

I think it's unlikely you'll find someone who's stayed in all 4. I stayed at the Accademia & know where La Calcina is-not far from each other-both in the Dorsoduro. I do recall someone posting that the Accademia is slightly nicer.

The breakfast at the Accademia includes hot things (eggs & bacon or ham) while I believe La Calcina has only cold things (yogurt, fruit etc.) The Accademia is slightly closer to San Marco. La Calcina has a rooftop terrace that can be booked in advance for private use. La Calcina is just at the Zattere vaparetto stop (and the Zattere stop of the alilaguna boat to/from the airport) while the Accademia is closest to the Accademia vaparetto stop (5 min walk) & we walked from the Zattere stop from the alilaguna.

For more info, look on tripadvisor.com. You can also do a text search here for each hotel by typing the hotel name into the "search this forum" box above.

I stayed at Pensione Accademia in 04/03 and enjoyed it tremendously. Large, clean, well appointed rooms and bathrooms, lovely public rooms and garden and courteous, helpful staff. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this hotel.
