Venice apt?
Hi, has anyone stayed at or is familiar with the Venice apt Vivaldi? How is the location? http://www.veniceapartments.org/html/vivaldi.htm
I am looking at this for 3 nights in June and the rate on veniceapartments.org is much leas than on other websites, I'm not quite sure why. Unfortunately their deposit is non-refundable too. Please let me know if anyone has used this agency.
Thanks.

We stayed at this apartment in March 2006. Very nice. Two bedrooms, there is also a washing machine and a clothesline out the bathroom window. Location is good, there is a pastry shop across the walkway and a trattoria at the end of the street. You are also a few steps from a wine shop as well.
You are a few minutes walk from San Marco at an easy pace. The entrance is off the walkway with a flight of stairs up once inside. the apartment fronts the alley way, so there are windows and light.
We rented it from a different agency but rented last year from veniceapartments.org when we needed a bigger place. We found them to be great to deal with. Good email communication throughout the rental process. Their office is close to P. Roma to pick up keys and finalize. Their English was significantly better than my Italian.
I liked the folks at the agency and have suggested them to others.

We stayed in one of their apartments, The Grandi, in Castello last year. The apartment was fine: clean, bright and beautifully located. It lacked a washer/dryer though.
The agency was easy to deal with and reliable. Overall a good experience.

Thank you so much for the info, it's exactly what I was looking for.
Notbob, how would you describe the feel of the inside of the apt, did it come across as posh or sparse or something in between? Did the building seem old? We are normally used to staying in mostly 4 star hotels so we know exactly what to expect and since it is my idea to rent an apt rather than fit the 3 of us in a hotel room, I am trying to make sure the apt will not be a disappointment!
You probably did not need air conditioning in March but do you remember if the bedrooms were air conditioned? I will check with the agency as well. BTW, do you remember the agency you rented from? I have reservations about renting from a place where the deposit is non-refundable since we still have 6 months to go. Thanks.

Sorry, as you said no need to pay attention to the air in March. But it probably had it, check with them.
We liked the apartment, not too fancy not too plain and well located. I haven't stayed in a hotel in Venice in 20 years. We always prefer to go the apartment rental route.
The person we rented from before has gotten out of the business. But we will rent from veniceapartments.org again.

I think I will wait on the apt since the deposit is non-refundable and in fact, since it is more than 6 months out, the agency wants payment in full.
Also, it has only one a/c unit, I'm not sure if that will be adequate to cool the apt.
I did find a B&B that has mostly favorable reviews on tripadvisor - Palazzo Duodo Gregolin, but not many reviews elsewhere. They have a 2 room suite that can accommodate 4. Has anyone stayed or considered booking a room there?

OK, even if no Fodorite has stayed there, can someone please help and give me their opinion of the place?
