Use this site to figure out which boat to take from the Airport. You want to go to Piazza Roma which is right near the pier. Can't tell you which is best as we took boat from Airport to St. Mark's since we spent the night in Venice prior to our cruise. Is your cruise line not offering any kind of transfers from airport? Often they will.

As said you take the bus to the P Roma. If you want to spend the day or some time in Venice there is a baggage check in the square 3.50e per day. Its appx a 10-15 min walk to the ship you go up the hill and then down to the dock area. It you have lots of bags spring for a cab if you just have one you can do it, if its warm just take your time the longest part is down hill <G>.

The cruise line will most likely offer bus transfers from Piazza Roma to the ship. Be VERY careful with the cabbies at Piazza Roma. Last November people were getting impatient with waiting on the bus and were paying 75 Euros!!! for a cab ride of maybe 5 minutes. Total rip off.

You need to check where your ship will berth. Most cruise ships use the Stazione Marittima, but some smaller ones use the San Basilio terminal, and a few berth at Riva Sette Martire, along the waterfront from Piazza San Marco.
