Varenna, Bellagio,Menaggio Lenno or Tremezzo for 4 nights

Mid June we'll be driving from Geneva to Lake Como region, Engadine and Dolomites.
We enjoy a less hectic pace and visiting a couple of Villas. Considering Hotel Villa Marie in Tremezzo, Stella d'Italia (San Mamete), Albergo Lenno (Lenno),a couple places outside or above Varenna, Hotel Du Lac Menaggio, or a couple apartments in Bellagio. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

In that area, hotels and apartments do not automatically have available car parking.
I believe that the Hotel Villa Marie offers car parking. Check with them.

For Lake Como, the regularly scheduled boats are a really easy way to get around. You not have to have a rental car.

Stayed at the Grand Tremezzo Hotel for 10 days and loved it. We had a car but took the boats to all the small towns on the lake during the day. Villa Carlotta is right next door to visit. I also recommend the 2 villas in Varenna to visit.

Also liked Bellagie and Mennagio.

If you stay in Tremezzo, try the restaurant "Al Velue" about a 5-10 min. drive---absolutely fabulous, food and view in the hills above the lake.

With your car you are better off on the west shore. The Lenno is a good option and the Du Lac in Menaggio is good value. Or, splurge and do the 4 star G.H. Menaggio right at the ferry dock. I love the Stella d' Italia but it is :30 from Menaggio on Lago Lugano--a real sleeper.

Deladeb,

We are planning to do the Engadine as a daytrip from Lake Como (in May/June). What towns are you thinking about in the Engadine?

Pontresina, Soglio, and Guarda have been very well spoken about by several enthusiastic posters here. I haven't made exact plans yet
