Hi Liz,
Have you checked out Locanda Sturion? You can request a room with a view, it's a great location (Rialto), and is IMO, very reasonably priced.

Buon Viaggio,
BC

You could also try the Hotel Campiello, www.hcampiello.com. It's a short walk east of St. Marks and is around the corner from the Grand Canal. Nice hotel, good prices.

Take a look at the website for Palazzo San Angelo. www.santangelo.hotelinvenice.com
We just returned from there and due to their "introductory" pricing had a gorgeous Grand Canal view room for $200/night. It was fabulous. Someone else through Fodors told me about this, and $200/night is a bargain to be on the Grand Canal. It's worth every penny.
