Venice Hotel Suggestions

We are looking for a double room with private bathroom for two adults, Feb 8 through Feb 11 (3 nights). It would be great to find something with a grand canal view under 100E a night.

Suggestion?

P.S. I have learned that Feb 8 is carnival still, so we may have to pay more for the first night

Thanks!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Venice is very expensive. Most hotels with a Grand Canal view are at least 200E per night, often more.

Do let us know if you find something for under 100E, I am sure many of us would love to know about any such bargain!

You do keep hoping. Try the Galleria or Leon Bianco, but that price is too low.

Try Locanda Orseolo (www.locandaorseolo.com)

I put your dates in Venere.com. You can sort the list by price. There are a few in that range, although many of them (but not all) are on the Lido. There are some on Venice proper as well. There are also hotel comments on the site. You can also check comments here and on tripadvisor.

Does it have to be Grand Canal? Many posters have reported enjoying side canal views.

Based on the comments a side canal would be nice too. I was hoping that it being winter we could get a good deal.

Closer to 200E per night, but my sister and I LOVED La Pensione Accademia when we stayed there in October(http://www.pensioneaccademia.it) We had a room overlooking a side canal and could see the Grand Canal as well. It was really a cute place, and convenient to the Accademia vaparetto stop.

On www.venere.com do a search for the townhouse suites, which are in fact small hotels with personal service and a better price than the larger hotels. Locanda Ca Amadi is available Feb 8-11 (at 123 euro) and gets very good reviews, both on Venere.com and on Tripadvisor.
We ourselves stayed at Locanda Ca Le Vele, another townhouse suite. Unfortunately they don't have availabilities for your dates.

The Galleria is right on the Grand Canal, in a great location just steps from the Academia vaporetto stop. It was around $95e a night for two a few years ago. The one drawback - the rooms are very tiny(but they do have a private bath). We had to eat our breakfast on the windowsill overlooking the Grand Canal - really roughing it!

We recently stayed at Ca'Satriano at the suggestion of another Fodorite. It is a small, three bedroom B&B on a side canal just off the Grand Canal. There is no staff other than to provide breakfast and clean, but we didn't mind. It is quite easy to get around. It felt a bit like having our own house. They don't readily respond to email, so you must be patient. The rooms all have private baths. The two larger rooms have huge tubs.
