Two weeks in Ischia
We are bunch of 10 Seniors planning a two week trip based in Villa Beatrice on Ischia and are looking for sightseeing ideas on the island and nearby areas, including the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Sorrento, Naples, etc. Ideas anyone? Time is mid Sept 2012

Good for you..I looked at that house a few years ago (online, that is) and it looks beautiful. I could not find enough people to share it with us so we stayed in a hotel. (Actually two different hotels, one on either side of the island).
I would suggest reading the many trip reports on this forum and then coming back with questions, since the topic of sightseeing in Naples and on the AC and Capri has been covered many, many times here. There is a lot to see on Ischia and I do not think that you are going to feel like making many daytrips off the island by boat. For one thing, the schedules will be fairly limited in September, and after taking the boat to Naples, you will then have to take a bus, ferry or private car service to visit the Amalfi Coast towns. Naples will be easier to visit for the day. To Capri, your best bet might be to take one of the many tours that operate from Ischia to that island.
Here is my report from my vacation on Ischia; I will be happy to answer any questions, and there is another poster here who lives on the island and who, hopefully, will chime in:

This is a report from one of my trips to the Amalfi Coast, and Naples; it might give you some ideas, and I will be happy to discuss further once you let us know your interests and what sounds good to you as far as daytrips.
Again, keep in mind the somewhat limited ferry schedule. (see below)

A little late in the evening here, so for today perhaps I can just refer you to the latter posts here - for someone else thinking on a September visit to our island?

Thank you Peter......a wealth of information !!!!
We intend to read use as much as we can. Frankly seems like some of us may want to spend the whole two weeks just in Ischia!
Thank you, again......Asit
Will be in touch later for follow up questions comments:
Wines, restaurants, shops for the ladies, exploring for the guys.....we are a fun group and like to mix things up.

One thing I don't think has been mentioned so far is our pretty neighbour, the little island of Procida - a very pleasant outing, only 10 or 15 minutes by sea....

And the combination of mid-September and 'wine' immediately brings to mind that it will harvest time, with events like those winery tours of Panza's "Ander per Cantine" and others going on that month...
Usually the arrangements for such things are only announced a few days in advance, but do shout if there's anything specific you want to know about!
