Turkey visa

What is the American visa fee for entrance to Turkey? Did they just increase it from $45 to $65?

We were in Istanbul several weeks ago and we paid US$45 per person for the entry visa. Cash only, but it was either US$ or Euros.

SUSAN,<BR><BR>Here is the information about visa for CANADIAN. I coppied this information from " http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/ankara/consular-e.asp#visas"<BR><BR><BR>Visas for Turkey <BR><BR>Effective December 1, 1999, Canadians intending to visit Turkey must be in possession of a visa. Holders of valid Canadian passports may obtain their visa upon arrival at any Turkish point of entry. Visas will be for multiple entry and valid for three months. There will be a 45 USD of processing fee. This fee may be paid at the port of entry. <BR><BR>If your period of stay is to exceed 90 days, you should contact the nearest police station to obtain a residence permit. <BR><BR>For further information on visas, please contact the Embassy of Turkish Republic, 197 Wurtemburg Street, Ottawa, ON, K1N 8L9 (tel: 613 789-4044 or 613 789-3440/fax: 613 789-3442). Thanks ABC. I was in Turkey in September 2000 and loved it. I plan to go back sometime - unfortunately it won't be this year (airfares are just too high), but we're hoping to go back next year. I'll definitely check the costs of the visa before we go. Living in Canada, we don't usually carry much American cash with us. We planned ahead last time and had the USD with us.

Interesting note: If you carry a Swiss Passport you pay nothing. This may also hold tru for German and other nationalities.

Terry! Europeans (at least EU and Schengen area Europeans, but I believe also others) don´t need a visa to Turkey. First time I was in Turkey it was something like 15 years ago, and it was like that already then.<BR><BR>These visa things usually work both ways: if your country A does not demand a visa from a person from country B, then the country B does not demend a visa from you.

XXX. you are wrong. EU did not need a visa for Turkey some years ago, but many do today. For Dutch citizens is was NLG 20 last year, probably EUR 10 this year. Turks also need a visa for Schengen countries.

Don't mean to be rude but, we have been in and out of Turkey 3 times since may... THE PRICE IS $45!!!!!! We KNOW for sure that the Turkish Custom People would NEVER charge a higher rate. If anyone paid $65 for a Visa, something really went wrong. Did you pay in Lira or pounds or Euro? You could literally put $600 down on the table for Customs Visa and for sure you would get back $555 back-- The entance Visa for Turkey is $45, even if the American Gov. raised there TAX.<BR>

It is now settled... I coincidently called the Turkish Councilate in LA on Friday. It is $65 US (no change, so bring exact amount) for the visa. Available before (via mail), or at the point of entry in Turkey. I'm leaving for Turkey this weekend. I consider the $65 a bargain. I plan to get my money worth out of the sites, views and food (thanks to abc and others for their excellent posts on this site).
