Turkey lovers unite! Your top three reasons to visit Turkey?
I'm dying to visit Turkey. I love history, archeology, art, good food, small towns and meeting new people.
Prior to visiting Italy we heard all the horror stories about pick pockets - we were careful, no problems. Next trip was Prague - oh the terrible crime on the trams. No problems. What I'm trying to say is I am done with the fear mongers. I'll exercise caution when needed but I'm not going to let the media and nay sayers stop me from seeing the world.
Now I just have to sell the missus on visiting Turkey. Can you help me out and share your Turkish delights?
Thanks in advance and cheers from the turnip!

The history - it's got something for everyone - from ancient to modern.
The variety of things to do - sightseeing (castles, mosques, palaces, Roman ruins, museums, caves, and the list goes on), shopping, sailing, golf, ballooning over Cappadocia, hanging at the beach, nature walks,......
The Grand Bazaar - truly one of my FAVORITE places in the world! (Been there 5 times on 3 different trips!)
The Grand Bazaar might help "sell the missus!" Hope you're successful!

There are so many wonderful reasons to travel Turkey - hard to put them into words. The people are gracious and kind, the food is wonderful, the mix of modern and ancient, a wide variety of things to see and do. These have all been repeated above.
It truly is a unique country - I can't wait to go back!

Just got back from two weeks touring Turkey, and can easily say it was one of the best trips I've ever taken. Wonderful scenery, friendly people, great weather while we were there, good food, excellent shopping -- nothing not to like. And, as our guide said, if we could enjoy ourselves this much while the country was experiencing a certain amount of tension (of which we saw no direct signs, by the way), things can only get better. Go. Your and your wife will have a wonderful time.

Just got off a Mediterranean cruise. We were reluctant to go to Turkey for some silly reason. The historic sights of Istanbul were absolutely breathtaking. The people were hospitable and the city was very clean. It was just fascinating!
