Trying to plan a trip to Rome
As a five year anniversary present for my boyfriend, I am trying to plan a trip to Rome. Probably sometime between January and March. I'm looking for a package deal that includes airfare and hotel for about $500-$600/person for 3 nights/4 days. Can anyone recommend a site or travel agency?

Here's an expedia package for 4 nights for $637pp. It's for travel betn oct1 and dec31 though. Maybe packages for 3 nights from jan to mar will be offered later. Also it depends on your point of departure. You'll have better fares from the east coast. good luck.

We're actually in New York. I looked at Go-Today and they have something for like $499 for 6 nights/7 days. And Gate1travel has a 4 night/5 day for $399. Has anyone used any of these sites before particulary for Rome? Which hotels do you recommend? Thank you.

If the prices are that low look at the hotels very carefully - some of the least expensie ones are places you realy don;t want to stay (a friend of mine did one of these packages to Berlin - and it turned out to be a 4th floor walk up in a pension above a club with live sex shows). When she complained they told her - "No one ever takes those really cheap hotels - you need to uprade to get a better one".

Are you only going to Rome? It's a lot
of money for airfare if you're only in
Europe for 3 nights and from the East Coast it's about an 8 1/2 hr flight if
you're non-stop and even longer coming home. I would
seriously reconsider if you can only do 3 nights...you'll barely be over the time difference when it's time to go home. If you really want to do this and haven't been there, have you considered London...less
flying time and lower airfare?

Yes, I am only planning on going to Rome. I have been there several times and have seen all the sites. My boyfriend has never been to Europe and has always wanted to go to Rome so I thought it would be a nice gift. I think you are right in saying that 3 nights/4 days is short. I'm thinking of extending it to maybe 5 night/6 days. It's just very hard for my to get time off during that time of year. I'm in accounting so that's my busy time.

I hope you work this trip out and your
boyfriend appreciates it! Our love affair with Europe started as a Christmas gift to my husband....he never wants anything and
I was fed up with socks and underwear!
Hope you have a wonderful time...we went to Rome in late January and it was a wonderful time to visit. No crowds and we were still able to dine outside! Have fun.

Hi lil,
http://airtravelcenter.com/onetrav.htm is offering NY/FCO for $435. It might drop by $75 in Nov.
Check the hotels offered b GoToday. It might be a good deal.
