Trocadero night scene
I've seen the Trocadero area recommended as something to "do" at night, and so I want to ask a stupid question: What do you "do" at night at the Trocadero? Is it like the fourth of July where families can gather and watch the Eiffel Tower light up, or is it a party scene with lots of young, drunk revellers? Are there cafes there to sit and enjoy the view? Thanks for your help!

being to Trocadero a few times. It is the area in and around the Eiffel Tower, There is a cinema etc resturants and a lot of people go for walks in the park near the Tower. Lots also go to view it by night and the surrounding water-sprouts. Worth a visit esecially to see the sights by night when they are lite up.

Just to clarify a bit: the Trocadero is across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower. It isn't the area surrounding the tower.
I have spent time in the evening watching the roller bladers and some very talented skate boarders. If the weather is decent, at the top of the steps, in a sort of plaza area, there are often musicians, vendors, and more. There are a couple of more permanent stands with food, drinks and souvenirs.
I think it is a very pleasant thing to do at night. People watch the Eiffel Tower light up across the Seine, watch the crowds, take photographs, etc.
There can be a bit of a carnival atmosphere, but for a little while, it is fun. To me, anyway.
