Trocadero night scene
I've seen the Trocadero area recommended as something to "do" at night, and so I want to ask a stupid question: What do you "do" at night at the Trocadero? Is it like the fourth of July where families can gather and watch the Eiffel Tower light up, or is it a party scene with lots of young, drunk revellers? Are there cafes there to sit and enjoy the view? Thanks for your help!

being to Trocadero a few times. It is the area in and around the Eiffel Tower, There is a cinema etc resturants and a lot of people go for walks in the park near the Tower. Lots also go to view it by night and the surrounding water-sprouts. Worth a visit esecially to see the sights by night when they are lite up.

Thanks, CU. So it is ok to visit at night for a family?

Hi R,
Yes. Watch out for the roller bladers, though. ((I)) |
Just to clarify a bit: the Trocadero is across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower. It isn't the area surrounding the tower.
I have spent time in the evening watching the roller bladers and some very talented skate boarders. If the weather is decent, at the top of the steps, in a sort of plaza area, there are often musicians, vendors, and more. There are a couple of more permanent stands with food, drinks and souvenirs. I think it is a very pleasant thing to do at night. People watch the Eiffel Tower light up across the Seine, watch the crowds, take photographs, etc. There can be a bit of a carnival atmosphere, but for a little while, it is fun. To me, anyway. |
It is safe as families go for walks around the area. keep an eye on your kids if they are very young as you may be taken with the beauty and they may just wander.

We have been at times when the water fountains are on (very impressive/beautiful) and times when they are off...seems to be a hit or miss thing. Anyone know how to find out the times they're on for sure?

The twinkling lights on the Eiffel Tower appear on the hour.
