Trip to Switzerland and Venice?

I'm thinking about taking a 10 or 11 day trip to Swtzerland and then maybe Venice. Will probably spend more time in Switzerland. Should Venice be first or last? My trip will probably be in September.

Fly into Venice; train to Switzerland; fly out of either Zurich or Geneva

Check your flight options out of Venice. Depending on where you're headed, your only departing flight may be at the crack of dawn.

Where are you going in Switzerland? Are you aware you'll lose nearly an entire day getting there (by train) from Venice? Could you fly from Venice to Geneva or Zurich?

A train from Venice to Switzerland is probably a good way to spend a day - seeing a lot of attractive scenery on the way.

You can get budget flights out of Venice to Geneva (Easyjet) but only on certain days of the week. As to the train from Venice to Switzerland, the fastest rail timing to the first real destination in Switzerland (Brig) takes almost 5.5 hours.

Go to the Venice Airport website.
http://www.veniceairport.it/core/ind...uestid=1508443

Note the English button and press that. You will see seasonal departures to be downloaded. Check you options from there.

Darwin Airlines bought out Baboo Airlines, a company that I loved to fly, and flew from Zurich to Venice.

Darwin flies modern Saab Turbopops out of Vencice, which mean that they fly a bit slower and lower.

The view over the Alps is absolutely beautiful

Thank you for the information. I'm thinking about the villages in Switzerland where I can do lots of hiking. Not sure exactly sure where yet. And the Venice portion isn't an absolute yet. Could decide to just stay in Switzerland. So many choices!

We stayed 3 nights in Venice and then took the train to Milan. Saw the Duomo, a couple of museums and then took the train to Zermatt the next day. Lots of hiking there.
