day trips to switzerland from venice

I am flying into Venice and will be staying in Belluno bed and breakfast for four days, for a wedding, then would like to explore by car and train for 5 days then flying out of Venice. Any and all suggestions please.

No need to go that far for majestic mountains---the fabulous Dolomites are right next door. If you want both then look at our 2009 trip in the Dolomites and Engadine valley.

Get a guidebook for northern Italy. There is plenty to see on either side of the Po valley and the Italian Alps to fill your 5 days.

Well, I don't understand why you are tagged Austria if you want to visit Switzerland.

Doing that as a day trip makes no sense. (Venice to Lucern by car is more than 5 hours and well more than 6 hours by train - so not a day trip.)

If you want to visit northern italy and Switzerland - then do so - but stay someplace in Switzerland (Lucern?) and fly home from Zurich rather than circling back to Venice.

Venice is an amazing place and there are many places you can visit. I had been there when i received a letter from american airways and the trip was enjoyable. You can see places like Basilica di San Marco, The Doge's Palace, Rialto Bridge,Islands of the Lagoon: Murano and there are many more... Enjoy your stay!!
