Venice - Switzerland - Paris
Hi,
Would like to seek opinion, my sis, friend and myself would like to travel Switzerland on Nov 2015.
1. Day 1 - Venice
2. Day 2 & 3 - Lucerne (Mt titlis, mt. pilatus)
3. Day 4 & 5 - Zermatt (Mt Mattherhorn)
4. Day 6 - Paris
I am not sure that this route is the best route as I am first time planning to travel in Europe.
Appreciate all recommendations and how to travel from one to another cities.
Thanks.
Regards,
Yugni

Please clarify - do you land in Venice on day 1 and fly out of Paris on day 6?
If so - those two cities are ALL you have time for and even that will be busy/rushed.
Half of day is spent arriving, immigration, traveling into Venice and getting to your hotel. Stay 2 more days, fly to Paris and have 2.5 days there.
Have you bought your tickets already?

The train ride from Venice to Lucerne takes 7+ hours. From Lucerne to Zermatt is 3+ hours, and Zermatt to Paris is another 7+ hours. Since sunset will be at about 5:00p.
I think you're trying to cover too much geography in a week at that time of year.
How late in November? An expert on Zermatt would have to comment on what's open/closed in early November versus late November. Depending on when the ski season starts, hotel rates late in the month could be high.

Hi,
Thanks. I will be staying Venice for a day before transit to Switzerland. After Switzerland will go to Paris for 4 Days.
I had 5d4n in Switzerland, i just want to show my starting point is from Venice and my ending point is on Paris. Would like to know the route to travel between Switzerland connect via Venice and Paris.
many thanks

The gondola to Matterhorn paradise runs from 8.30 until 15.30 (from sunrise to sunset) during all the month of November. Be prepared to have thick fog, wind and temperatures much below 0 degrees centigrade.
It's easier to travel from Venice (dp 16.20, 1 train change) to Zermatt and then to Lucerne (2 train changes) and finally to Paris (1 train change).
The weather in November is usually ugly anyway, so it doesn't make any difference whether you travel along potentially scenic or other railway itineraries and whether you will do that during daylight or not.
The famous cog wheel railway to Pilatur doesn't run in November, but you may reach this peak by (unheated!) gondola.

I think you have missed the fact that in November it is off season. Many hotels and restaurants are closed for renovation and many chair lifts and gondolas are also closed for repairs to be ready for the ski season upcoming in December. Also the mountains may well be shrouded in clouds/rain/sleet - so there is no point in ascending them - since at the top you couldn;t see you hand in front of your face.
You may be lucky and get a sunny day at the top - but very possibly not. (In June we had to wait in Interlaken - base of Jungfrau railroad - for 3 days before we got one that was clear at the top of the Jungfrau. We had a car and toured around via car and boat - Brienz, Thun, Gruyere etc - but in spring those are all lovely as is the countryside.)
What will you do if the mountains are socked in the few days they are there?

I think you simply do not have time for Venice, 'Switzerland', and Paris but you are sticking to your guns. Unless you are VERY lucky w/ the weather, I fear you will be sorely disappointed by your time in the Alps.
Plus you one day in Venice will really be about half a day and you will be jet lagged. You really need 2 or 3 nights in Venice to give you one useable/full day -depending on how the long haul travel affects you.
Just Venice and Paris . . . (I sound like a broken record but I just think you may not have such a great time in Switzerland)

Pilatus: have a look at my post just above your question.
Eiger: can only be done with a mountain guide, you must be a experienced alpinist who knows how to climb in difficult rocks and to handle picks and ropes. May be it's not possible in November.
Mt. Zermatt: doesn't exist. If you mean Matterhorn Paradise, have a look at my post just above your question.

(1) Any recommendation for the accommodation for both Zermatt and Lucerne?
(2) What passes do I need to get for my 4 days in Switzerland?
Thanks.
