Wow! 25 meals in Paris! What a dream!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed reviews. They are such a huge resource for so many and greatly appreciated, Julie!
I especially was interested in the Greek place you mentioned, but then realized we will be in Greece for a week before we arrive in Paris, so I better stick to French food for our mere 4 days in Paris. It was good to eliminate one, actually. I laughed out loud at the Mr. and Mrs. Portokalis comment, and then I realized your last name DOES sounds Greek... are you?

Marcy, we've been to Chez Denise but Val wasn't fond of it and I had to agree that it seemed more touristy than Chez Clovis so when they were still doing business in the old way, there was no contest in our minds. Maybe now, we should reconsider them as well. Somehow though, I just didn't warm to them and it might be a tough sell for me. I'll look for your other post.
Dina4, Yes, we're often thought to be Greek, but actually Val is Latvian. Came to US as a small child after living in DP camps at the end of the war--hence a psychological reason for always wanting to be able to afford the good things in life--like great food. We have, however, a real affinity for Greek food but we've not yet taken up windex as a cure-all.

Along with many others, I'm enjoying your fun-to-read trip report, (as well as your previous reports!). The level of detail you include is fantastic and truly helpful to those of us planning future trips. For me, narrowing down my always way too long Paris restaurant list is one of the most agonizing, (well, really, really difficult, anyway!), parts of the planning process because who wants to waste a precious evening in Paris at a not-so-wonderful restaurant? Not me, if I can help it! So, along with all the info. about your trip that you described, your restaurant experiences are also greatly appreciated!

I had a marvelous time at Chez Denise on my previous trip. I was tucked in between two French couples. One couple from Paris, the other from Normandy who were friends of our server.
They were so friendly and our lunch lasted three hours.
Tables are VERY close together so don't expect a private chat.

Hi Julie-I'm just discovering your report today--love the detail about all of your meals. Also glad that you were able to meet up with other members.
We don't currently include Hotel Parc St. Severin in our Paris guide; but if you don't mind I'll be sure the editor sees your report and recommendation.
Also liked your analysis of the museum pass--I know sometimes "non-musuem diehards" end up not springing for these passes because they don't think museums are a top priority for them but your thoughts are the same as mine---I really like being able to feel free to check out anything that strikes my interest; without feeling I've "committed" to staying a long time. I think your detail regarding this will be helpful to others in the future.

Hi Julie - I would like to know why you chose the NAVIGO travel cards opposed to CARTE ORANGE and what is the difference in cost if you remember?
Also, the 6 day museum pass: Do you HAVE to attend a museum each day or are you free to skip a day or two then continue visiting museums?

Thanks for all the responses. Katie, I think it would be nice to include Hotel Parc St. Severin in the Fodors guide. It is a lovely hotel and I think you'll get confirmation of that from other posts on this site as well as on Trip Advisor.
Cigale is right on. The way to get a week long pass for Paris transport (running from Monday to Sunday) is no longer the Carte Orange. Now it is the Navigo with a "load" for the week for those days.
Tod the museum passes are for CONTINUOUS days. So if you choose not to go to any museums on day 5, you are still done on day 6. You can not extend into day 7 because you chose not to use the pass on day 5. So you do need to arrange your museum hopping to maximize the value of the pass.
