Trenitalia Night Train question
I am looking at reserving an IC night train from Rome to Ostuni leaving Rome at 12:58 arriving in Ostuni at 7:50. What is the difference between a 2 bed compartment and a double seat compartment? They both show beds when I click on them. The 2 bed compartment does not seem to work, but the double seat compartment does. The double seat compartment really does have 2 beds in it doesn't it? I've been looking at this for weeks and I can't figure it out. Please help!

The train leaves Roma Termini at 2358 (two minutes to midnight).
A fare per person in a two-berth compartment is 64.14 euros, and in a "posto doppio" is 76.85 euros. The "doppio" is obviously a superior sleeping compartment ("posto" is translated as "seat" in the English version of Trenitalia's web site, but it really means something more like "place" because it can mean somewhere to sit or to lie down). I'd book the more expensive sleeping compartment because it's not too much more. I don't think any railway anywhere has compartments with two seats.

Sorry, I meant to say 23:58, not 12:58. As far as I know, there is only one train station in Ostuni.
Thanks Geoff for the info. That makes sense to me. I think I will follow your advice and reserve the posto doppio.

Ok, I made my reservations for the night train to Ostuni. My reservation says we are assigned to couch 9 which I assume is the particular train car and seats 41 & 45. My question is: these seats/beds are in the same compartment aren't they? I think so, but the spaced out numbers are making me paranoid. This is for a posto doppio sleeper compartment.

We took a nite train out of Rome to Paris - the numbers did not quite make sense to me either - not consecutive, I think, but when we got on the train it was the two of us in the same compartment. I had bought the tickets from the station tho, not on the internet.
