You'll want to supply more details regarding your interests to get good advice here. Do you like modern art? classical art? theater? history? etc. And clicking on the "Destinations" link in the header will provide good info.
If you're concerned about meeting people, you may want to consider staying at hostels where you will mingle with other travelers.
London Walks are great - http://www.walks.com/ - for history, bargain entertainment, and a way to meet folks.
Search for good London pubs to visit at fancyapint.com

You could start with http://www.timeout.com - they started with a focus on the younger and more alternative customer.
Also, the messageboards at http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.com/ will have a lot of younger single travellers posting.

Hi
Well, in general I can advice you to check out my trip report from Paris on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/Paris_France.htm . I have also made an interactive Google map that shows where some of the attractions are located. You can find the map on http://gardkarlsen.com/paris_france_map.htm . Click on the markers for more information.
When it comes to travling alone. Maybe you should check out http://www.hospitalityclub.org to see if you can meet any locals
Regards
Gard
