How to get wine purchases home?
I have read many posts that hint on this subject - how does one get their wine purchases home? I am trying to pack lite (and will try to heed the advice found here) and will bring an extra tote for purchases and some bubble wrap. But how do you get your wine home?

A lot of wineries and wine shops carry styrofoam boxes just for the purpose of carrying wine back with your checked luggage, especially with the new carry-on restrictions.
I've seen the boxes in Italy with both the 6 and 12 pack. They contain styrofoam cylinders. I brought back 2 six packs put together with strapping tape as one piece of my checked baggage.

We usually bring back 12-14 bottles of wine in our checked luggage. We pack it very well wrapped in our clothing. Some of the stuff in your suitcase you can take out and put into another bag to check on the way home. We've never lost a bottle.

It is very easy to pack wine in your checked luggage. Roll the bottles in your jeans or slacks. You can also put your socks over the bottles. As long as you roll them tightly in your clothing and pack your luggage so there is no movement, they should arrive fine. Bring an extra folding duffle so you can use it for overflow.
