Trattoria dining in Rome

Any recommendations for fun, casual, lively dining in Rome with 2 children (11 and 12). We have 3 nights and are staying at Albergo Del Senato. Thanks!

Try the inexpensive place--Baffetos Pizza. It's on Grosvenor near Piazza Navona. I think you'd all enjoy it and the pizza is great. It's easy to eat one medium pizza. Marilyn

Aileen,
Tip: If you are visiting Rome in the summer months, please take along mosquito repellant. We visited a trattoria years ago in hot August and the bugs were horrendous.

Coco

Thanks for the tips! Actually, we are leaving tonight - 10 days in Scotland, 2 days in London, 3 days in Rome and 4 days in Tuscany. The biggest challenge has been packing for 2 different climates!

Italy is one of the easiest places to visit with children. There are tons of great trattorias in Rome. My personal favorite for low cost, great authentic dining is Mario's in Trestavere, Via del moro, 53. I was taken there about 20 years ago by locals, last year I was there with my family (similar age children) and while wandering around Trestavere, I found it again. We went for dinner and it was as good as I remembered and filled with locals. Enjoy your trip!

If you and your kids are into pizza, I recommend Pizzaria Remo in Testaccio. Take the Metro to Piramide, walk into Testaccio and ask anyone where Remo is. Its a large, noisy local favorite. The pizza is the best!
